2024 Annual Report

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I'm writing as we reflect on an extraordinary year at Voyageurs National Park, one that has strengthened our collective commitment to this treasured place we all hold dear. The spirit of partnership and shared purpose that defines our community continues to inspire me daily, and I am honored to witness the profound impact we create together.

There are many remarkable achievements to celebrate in 2024, beginning with our unprecedented reach of 47,725 student experiences through innovative education programs. The Voyageurs Classroom Initiative continues to break down barriers, bringing the wonder of our national park directly to young minds across the country. The magic of Voyageurs extends beyond daylight hours. Over 1,000 visitors experienced the wonder of our International Dark Sky Park through Park After Dark programs, connecting with the cosmos and understanding the importance of protecting this remarkable resource.

Our conservation efforts have achieved significant milestones this year. The permanent protection of 51 pristine acres on Big Island in Rainy Lake, stewarded by the Ramsey family for over three generations, demonstrates the power of a conservation vision that will ensure public enjoyment and habitat protection for generations. Meanwhile, our Field Fellows advanced critical wetland restoration and wolf research to invasive species management and environmental education.

This year also marked meaningful partnerships with the Bois Forte Band of Chippewa that led to a series of listening sessions in Bois Forte reservations and urban communities throughout 2024. These important conversations are shaping how we preserve and share Indigenous narratives throughout our educational programming.

Thank you for your unwavering support and for recognizing that protecting Voyageurs requires collective action. Together, we are ensuring this extraordinary place continues to inspire balance, wonder, and hope for our future.

With gratitude and excitement for what lies ahead,

Christina Hausman Rhode
