Women of the Water: Eagle Encounters
Join Women of the Water, a women-only club based in Crane Lake, and Juli Ponder, Voyageurs Conservancy Board Member and former director of the University of Minnesota Raptor Center, for a unique opportunity to learn about eagle populations and research in Voyageurs National Park. Juli will lead the group to known nesting locations, with the potential to observe both adult eagles and their young eaglets in the wild.

Leave No Trace Spotlight
Voyageurs National Park has been selected as a 2025 Leave No Trace Spotlight. The Subaru/Leave No Trace Traveling Team will be at Voyageurs National Park July 24-26, collaborating with hosts and partners on a variety of programs including stewardship projects, workshops, and community outreach.

Composer & 2024 Artist-in-Residence Marko Bajzer will debut an original symphony orchestra piece, “Sky-Tinted Water,” inspired by the landscapes of Voyageurs. Concerts will take place at venues throughout Minnesota next fall to commemorate the 50th.
Hear the music of the universe – from both near and far. Rochester native and composer, Marko Bajzer, joins Rochester Symphony to present new music celebrating the 50th anniversary of Voyageurs National Park. Sky-Tinted Water reflects the beauty of the natural landscape and cultural history of northern Minnesota. These earthly impressions set the stage for a voyage through the solar system with Holst’s The Planets – from the warlike thunder of Mars to the ethereal calm of Neptune. Paired with stunning video exploring the wonders of outer space, this special multimedia concert takes the imagination on a journey from the ground beneath to the stars above.

Fall Hike & Picnic with a Ranger: Vermilion Falls
Take in beauty and power of Vermillion River as it roars and swirls and cascades through a 10- foot granite opening. Then continue along the river to possibly view a wild rice bed and learn more about native Minnesota plants, traditional Ojibwe uses for plants, and the impact of exotic species on the ecosystem. After the hike bring your own lunch and join Ranger Jackie for an informal opportunity to ask questions and learn more about Voyageurs National Park.

Join orchestral composer and Voyageurs Conservancy and Voyageurs National Park Artist-in-Residence Marko Bajzer for an exploration on the long and intertwined history of the national parks and the arts, including his upcoming symphonic work entitled "Sky-Tinted Water," which will be written to commemorate the park's 50th anniversary in 2025. He has previously served as Artist-in-Residence at Joshua Tree, Lassen Volcanic, and Great Basin National Parks.

Observe the Moon through our powerful 18-inch mirror telescope. Through our telescope you will see features up close such as impact craters that run deeper than the grand canyon, towering mountain ranges, and more! You will also have a chance to observe Saturn and learn about its fascinating moons.

International Observe the Moon Night: Student Activities
Stop by the Rainy Lake Visitor Center any time between 1:00 and 5:00 PM for a special interactive student activity for Observe the Moon Night. Learn about how impact craters on the Moon reveal its violent past, discover how to find features on the Moon using binoculars, and more! These activities are great for K-5 students, but all ages are welcome.
Later this night, you are welcome to join us as we observe the Moon up close using our powerful 18”-mirror telescope.

Junior Ranger: Let's Go Fishing!
Join a Park Ranger for a Fishing Program in Voyageurs National Park!
The Junior Angler Program is a fantastic opportunity for kids and families to learn the art of fishing with a Park Ranger. This program offers a fun and educational experience that teaches participants about native fish habitats, ecology, and the basics of angling. All gear is provided and this program includes a variety of activities. Located at the Rainy Lake Fishing Pier, our Junior Angler Program is a great way to learn a new skill and connect with your family at Voyageurs National Park.
