Experience an International Dark Sky Park
Weekly; July 17 - September 26 | Kabetogama (Thurs.) & Rainy Lake (Fri.) Visitor Centers
July 25 – Rainy Lake Visitor Center | 9:30-10:00 PM Indoor Presentation, 10:00-11:00 PM Outdoor Telescope Viewing
Attend this joint program hosted by Voyageurs Conservancy's dark sky specialist and NASA Solar System Ambassador and a Voyageurs National Park ranger for a night of stargazing and discovery.
Begin with a short program exploring what it means to be a dark sky park, why preserving natural darkness matters, and how it enhances our connection to the cosmos. Afterwards, immerse yourself in the night with a 60-minute guided experience, featuring powerful telescopes, constellation tours, and stunning views of distant planets, galaxies, and brilliant starscapes.
BE PREPARED:
There will be mosquitoes! Bring bug spray and mosquito nets, and be prepared to face some bugs, especially at the beginning of the program.
Flashlight (red is best) - we are in one of the darkest areas of the Park you can access by car, so there will be little artificial light. Flashlights to navigate are helpful, and red light flashlights will help you keep your night vision.
No pre-registration required. Check back on the event page at 8pm the day of the event for any weather cancellations.
Note: Dark Sky Programs may be canceled due to inclement or cloudy weather. Please make sure to check voyageurs.org/events for updates.
